Sara grew up on a farm in Southern Alberta. She developed a love for helping and caring as a young child. As a teenager, she spent hours volunteering and sharing her time at the small town Hospital and Care Centre in Milk River, AB. It was here she was inspired to pursue a career in nursing.

Sara graduated from the University of Alberta Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in 2004. With a passion for advanced education, Sara pursued graduate studies and obtained her Master of Nursing degree in 2012. She was the recipient of the Registered Nurses Educational Trust Scholarship in 2010. She became a certified RN prescriber in 2020. Sara has also presented at conferences disseminating work she has done in nursing education.

Sara’s career has been devoted to health promotion and disease prevention. Early days of Sara’s career were spent working with high-risk pregnant women, where she provided prenatal education and support to vulnerable families. Sara carried her passion for education into her role as a nursing instructor at Red Deer College. She taught in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for 8 years; teaching primarily in 1st year, where health promotion and illness prevention are core learning concepts.

After countless hours of studying and learning from industry leaders, Sara opened Central Alberta’s first nurse-founded clinic in 2018. Formerly, SJ Medical Aesthetics, Sara rebranded the clinic to Cecilia Skin Co. This rebrand captures & emulates the essence of the clinic’s mission - to prevent skin health decline & promote skin health restoration. Sara is passionate about skin health and its pivotal role in our overall sense of well-being. Recently, Sara had the honour of completing world-renowned board certified dermatologist & founder of ZO Skin Health- Dr.Zein Obagi’s Master Training Seminar. She is always striving to integrate current evidence-based knowledge into the clinic practices and protocols.

Sara is a mom of three young children and a proud wife to a City of Red Deer Firefighter. Sara enjoys running, travelling, horseback riding and boating. Any time spent outside with her family, is time well spent.
